WHEREAS, on February 19, 1926, Carter G. Woodson established ANegro History Week@ which is now referred to in the United States as� ABlack History Month@; and

�

WHEREAS, to promote a greater awareness of the history and culture of black Americans, the month of February is recognized across the United States as ABlack History@month; and

�

WHEREAS, the United States is a diverse nation comprised of citizens from various ethnic groups and cultures; and

�

WHEREAS, it is important to promote a greater awareness of the history and culture of all ethnic groups across our country.

�

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby recognizes the month of� February as ABlack History/Cultural Diversity Month@ in Ingham County.
